Prescott Travel Guide
Welcome to Prescott, AZ!
Located in the mountains of north-central Arizona, Prescott is nearly 100 mi (161 km) northwest of Phoenix and is the county seat of Yavapai County. Prescott's location makes it popular with summer visitors seeking cooler temperatures than Phoenix and Tucson can offer. Known as Everybody's Hometown and Arizona's Christmas City, Prescott boasts several unique attractions for visitors to enjoy. The World's Oldest Rodeo is a festival that includes fireworks, a parade, live entertainment and, of course, rodeo events. Prescott has a dedication to the December holiday season, and the city's pride in Christmas is evident through the lighting of the courthouse every year, an event that is accompanied by a parade and live entertainment. The Prescott National Forest lies partly within the city limits and provides space for hiking, camping and picnicking in one of Arizona's many natural wonders at any time of the year.
